FAQ

  • How long does teeth whitening take?

The service itself takes an hour to complete however please allow around an hour and twenty minutes for the appointment in total.

  • What results should be expected?

Results depends on each individual and the extent of original discolouration, generally speaking anywhere from 5-14 shades lighter can be achieved however our whitening machine is the best in its class & we have seen up to 18 shades whiter in one hour. The more stained your teeth the more dramatic the result will be. We are experts on whitening and use all of our tips and tricks to ensure you the whitest smile we can get in your session.

  • Should whitening be done by a dentist?

Whitening does not have to be done by a dentist and dentists generally receive the same training that cosmetic whitening specialists do. Our teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non dental.

Our products are Australian compliant and have a low sensitivity occurrence rate!

  • Is teeth whitening safe?

Cosmetic Teeth Whitening is safe! We offer the highest quality whitening gel approved for use in Australia. We have a hygienic procedure & our gel is gentle and safe, problems are extremely rare. Teeth Whitening is safe for crowns and veneers although these will generally see very minor stain lifting if any at all as cosmetic teeth whitening products are designed to work on your natural tooth enamel.

  • Does it cause sensitivity?

Although uncommon, some people can experience tooth sensitivity during the first 24 hours after the whitening treatment. People with existing sensitivity, cracked teeth, micro-cracks, open cavities, leaking fillings, exposed roots, or other dental conditions that cause sensitivity may find that those conditions increase or prolong tooth sensitivity after the treatment, whitening is not recommended if you have any pre-existing dental work to be carried out.

If you usually have sensitive teeth we recommend using Sensodyne toothpaste for a few days to a week before treatment and for a few days after

  • Can I get whitening if I wear a retainer?

    Yes absolutely!

  • What about braces?

We can definitely whiten your teeth post braces, we recommend waiting a week after braces removal to whiten.

If you are getting braces on soon we recommend a whitening treatment (for adults) before the braces are fitted.

  • How white can my teeth get?

We can whiten your teeth to the maximum results. The maximum results are defined as your natural whitest colour - we can not whiten beyond the natural colour you were born with (but that is generally a more than satisfactory white).

  • How long will my results last?

Teeth re-stain over time, how quickly this happens largely depends on lifestyle factors

As a general guideline we find our coffee drinkers/smokers do their top up appointments at 6ish months and our non-coffee drinkers tend to book their top ups at 8 months. Whitening is safe to do 3-4 times a year which is every 3-4 months however if you were maintaining that often you would only need a short session.
