Tooth gems & charms are applied with a non-allergenic, high quality dental bond - the same thing orthodontists use to apply braces. There is no drilling or pain to be concerned about!

  • What crystals do you use?

Platinum Gem Artistry stocks an extensive range of gems, we predominately stock Preciosa gems in our standard gem sizes.

Preciosa are the best gems on the market. We do also stock Swarovski in some varieties however Preciosa are a higher quality gem than Swarovski and our first preference. We have done a lot of product comparisons and testing over the years, we do this to ensure you are always getting the best quality for lasting gems.

You must be 16+ or under 16 with a parent present.

Tooth gems can not be applied to veneers, composite bonding or false teeth, tooth gems can only be applied to natural teeth with healthy enamel

If you have a filling on the front of your tooth we would avoid placing it there

Tooth gems are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women

  • What if I don’t have straight teeth?

So what? Tooth gems can suit anyone & will actually serve as a distraction from teeth related concerns you may be self conscious about. We often get feedback from our gem clients saying their gems and whitening have made them more confident in their smile!

Smaller designs are completed anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes and larger designs can take up to an hour and a half.

  • Will I be able to feel it?

You will be able to feel your gem for around 48 hours after application and then you will get used to it. You wont be in any pain during the application process.

Naturally your tongue will want to touch and play with your gem, the tongue is made up of strong muscles so it’s important to be conscious of this and avoid making a habit of touching your gem

with your tongue to ensure it’s longevity.

  • Should I get my teeth whitened if I'm getting gems?

Its definitely not a prerequisite to whiten before gems however a lot of gem clients like to get them whitened as more people will notice their teeth.

Our whitening service is substantially discounted for our gem clients and can be added to any gem application for $99.

If you do want to whiten we recommend whitening before your gems but we can whiten after gems if need be - whitening can be done two weeks after gem application.

  • What if I lose a gem?

We offer 6 week guarantee on our gems, if you lose a gem in this time we will replace your gem free of charge - note: this is a very rare occurrence as our application methods are strong and thorough.

Our guarantee period is a cut above the rest, a lot of artists don’t offer a guarantee period at all & if they do it’s usually for 3-4 weeks.

If you lose a gem after the 6 week guarantee period you can book our gem replacement service.

  • Can I get a gem if I have braces?

    Yes you can!

  • What if I wear a retainer?

If you have a wire retainer behind your teeth that’s no problem at all

If you wear a metal retainer that fits over the front of your teeth bring it to your appointment and we can place your gems around it

If you wear a plastic retainer you are able to cut a hole in the retainer for your gemmed tooth/teeth

We are also able to bling out your plastic retainers! Gem's are not recommended while you are doing Invisalign.
